Lizzo Opens Up About Online Harassment and Lawsuit Challenges During Podcast Appearance

Lizzo talked candidly about her internet addiction and how it affects her mental health on an episode of Keke Palmer's podcast, "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer." The Grammy-winning singer talked on the negativity she encounters on the internet, particularly in the wake of recent cases involving sexual harassment and assault.

Lizzo disclosed in the interview that she took a break from social media between August 2023 and January 2024 in order to avoid the criticism that had a significant negative impact on her. Her response to online content has gotten extreme. "Anything that you saw was either someone on my team posting for me, or I posted real quick and threw my phone," she revealed.

The singer of "Truth Hurts" also talked about how losing 150,000 fans in a single day made her think about how erratic public opinion and celebrity can be. The interview was for her loyal fans who have stood by her side no matter what. "People now will just believe anything bad about you because there's something about being a famous person that it's almost like people wanna believe that you're a bad person," Lizzo said.

In addition, Lizzo discussed the accusations, which she has publicly denied, made against her by three former backup dancers who sued her for allegedly fostering a sexually inappropriate and racially charged workplace. The legal issues are still pending, and a court of appeals is scheduled to review the case in January 2025.
